Christian’s background is firmly tied to computing, having discovered a Commodore 64 at age 10. After studying computer science at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) and a few years spent building financial and personnel administration software, Christian got in touch with a startup called Shazam. There, as an early joiner, his achievements include building the technical team, the content management system and what is now one of the largest music databases around. Following receipt of his MBA at INSEAD near Paris, he spent nearly 5 years at Google as a product manager, introducing core features in Gmail and Maps while managing market research, recruiting, due diligence for potential acquisitions, and more. He’s now CEO of MPme, aiming to build the platform into one of the best experiences for discovering and enjoying music from around the world.
MPme effortlessly connects users with radio stations professionally curated by DJ’s from around the globe, intelligently learning users’ preferences by scanning music libraries and reviewing ‘Likes’ via Facebook. The MPme Radio app then uses this information to return tailored radio recommendations fuelled by tunes playing in real-time, broadcast across the globe. Unlike robotic jukebox services lacking a human touch, MPme harkens back to radio’s glory days when local DJs were a great source for music, information and entertainment. Christian Miccio, MPme’s CEO, says his company is actively playing a role in reinvigorating radio through the use of modern technology. By eliminating tiresome playlist building, MPme allows listeners to simply click on a suggested station matching their taste to instantly enjoy new music seasoned with news and unpredictable live chatter that remain the hallmark of live radio.Along with Android, MPme is available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with updated UI and features, it also supports Apple Airplay.
